This area had the largest Armenian community population at one point, but the community has grown into other cities like Glendale, California. Did you know that Cedars of Lebanon Hospital merged with Mt. Sinai Hospital?

And why is this an interesting fact? Here’s why! Cedars of Lebanon was a hospital that was relocated to the Little Armenia community in the 1930s. Many notable stars were patients there. It was here that actress Judy Garland gave birth to her daughter, Liza Minnelli. Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe received treatment from this hospital.

In the early 1960s, Mt. Sinai hospital merged with Cedars of Lebanon to form what we know as Cedars-Sinai today. The hospital in Little Armenia no longer serves as a hospital. It now belongs to the Church of Scientology and serves as a spiritual center.
